First Ecological Economics PhD seminar -- October 19th
We are pleased to announce our first speaker and talk in the PhD seminar series this year. François Diaz Maurin will be our first speaker on Wednesday, October 19th from 14h to 15h30 (Aula Q4/1003 Etse building). The title of his presentation is: The Problem of the competitiveness of nuclear energy: A biophysical explanation.
François Diaz Maurin is an engineer with expertise in large-scale infrastructure projects of civil engineering and nuclear industries. Prior to moving to Barcelona, he gathered 3 years of experience from various R&D projects both in France and in the United States, working mainly on the design of new reactors and radioactive waste treatment facilities. He recently joined the Integrated Assessment group of ICTA-UAB and works with Dr. Mario Giampietro on the energy supply issues. Within the main topic of 'Energy and Society', his research deals with the feasibility and desirability of nuclear energy as an alternative energy source. His talk will focus on the preliminary results of his recent research.
